GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE!
Today (Sunday) is my only day off work this week. Working in the fitness industry is very rewarding, but also super draining and tiring. Today is my recharge day and since later today will be filled with Father’s Day celebrations, this morning I am taking a chill pill. It is super rare to have a morning where I am not running out the door to work, so these are the types of mornings I love most. They are rare so I will take them as they come and I am very grateful to have one today.
Since I have a little more free time in the AM today I wanted to share with you my favorite morning routines!
Some of my go-to morning routines BEFORE I am out the door:
➳Alarm clock success- NO snoozing!! I am telling you, there is a different world out there when you get out of bed on the first sound of your alarm. I fight snoozing all the time to be honest, but I have noticed a HUGE benefit from not doing it. The 5 Second rule helps with this and/or setting up your alarm far from your bed so you are forced to get out of bed to shut it up.
➳Journaling: I enjoy waking up a little earlier than I normally would, just to reflect and journal before the rush of the day. I sometimes will set an intention for the day or ask myself how I want to show up in the world during the day. One of my favs prompts that I got from Angie Lee is asking myself, what if my only job today was to create joy? What/how would that look like?
➳Podcasts: I listen to podcasts when I am getting ready for the day, cooking, driving in the car, and walking the dogs. Right now my favs are The Angie Lee Show, The GaryVee Audio Experience, and The Chalene Show. They fire me up and provide such valuable insight and powerful messages. I love them!
➳Oil pulling with coconut oil. AMAZING. I feel so clean after this doing this for 5 minutes in the AM. 2 huge tips: Do NOT swallow any of the oil as you swish it around (I found this hard at first) and make sure you don’t spit it down the sink or it will clog! Your mouth will feel so good and it is really good for gum health/overall dental hygiene.
➳Spend time with my pups in the AM. Dogs are the best creatures in the world, they are so happy and calming. Spending time with my pups is a form of therapy and stress reduction for me. If I have a busy day ahead, seeing them in the morning, even for just a hug and pet, puts me in a better mood. Who’s with me?!
➳Eat a well-balanced, fulfilling breakfast. It is my FAV meal of the day. I have recently cut out eggs which was extremely tough, but necessary for eliminating a sensitivity I have to them. I now find myself craving fruit and veggies in the morning. I love making a green smoothie with coconut oil and collagen to start the day! It is fulfilling and keeps the blood sugar levels level which is important for sustained energy and overall non crankiness (hello low blood sugar).
➳Make/drink a green juice, smoothie or matcha tea latte. Like I said before..bfast is my jam. Lately I have been drinking organic coffee at home, but I am obsessed with matcha and find myself feeling more present and less anxious throughout the day when I drink it.
