So it’s almost Valentine’s Day and love is in the air…..can you feel it? šš
Single or not- It’s the perfect time for ALL of us to partake in some self-care/self-love practices!
Now I can go on and on about how self care is really more than ‘TREAT YO’ SELF’ time at the mall or at the spa, BUT that’s for another time…anyways, we all enjoy a lilā pampering….can I get an Amen!?
Seriously, who doesn’t love a good face mask that leaves your skin feeling as fresh and clean as ever?
Face masks have pretty much become a symbol of “self-care.” šæšāāļø
But what the heck is in most face masks?
PEGs! (AKA polyethylene glycols if you want to get fancy)
They are used as thickeners or solvents and can enhance the permeability of the skin to allow greater absorption of the product ā including the potentially harmful ingredients that may be in the product.
It is time to ditch the harmful face mask- if yours contains parfum, perfume, fragrance, and or PEGs please look into a safer option.
My favorite face mask is the Counter + Charcoal Facial Mask from Beautycounter
I love Beautycounter because all of their products are formulated with out the use of over 1,800 harmful or questionable ingredients, like PEGs.
I would never recommend something that I don’t personally use and trust!
- 1938. The last year a major federal law was passed regulating the cosmetics industry in the U.S.
- 80,000. Thatās the number of chemicals on the market today. Most donāt have safety data. This is particularly true of those in the skin care and beauty industry.
Across the board for all cosmetic and personal care products- you are in the driver seat when it comes to safety and reducing your toxic chemical exposure risk.
As the consumer, you have all the power.
Your voice, your votes, your choice..is in the products that you support.
The products that you support are the ones that you BUY. The products that you buy are from a company that is either making a profit with safety and transparency as their mission statement and promise for YOU, the consumer, OR a company that is making a profit to make a profit (even if the ingredients in their products are harmful to human, animal, or environmental health) simply because they can. YOU as the consumer must be aware that there are loopholes in the current “self-regulated” beauty industry so you are not unknowingly a victim of exposure to ingredients that are proven carcinogens or endocrine disruptors.
Simply put: stop paying for more damage to be done….to you, the future generations, and the planet.
I have plenty more information if you want to learn more about safer personal care products and Beautycounter. Check out the Better Beauty Tab or contact me to chat!
